Customer safety has always been the number-one priority at Cali.  We utilize only the highest-quality manufacturing techniques and adhesives to ensure that our flooring is free of harmful chemicals. All our flooring is tested by the leading emissions detection laboratory Benchmark International for volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

Yes. Like other flooring types, it is best to limit direct sunlight on the floor by utilizing curtains and blinds in areas with exposure to high UV rays.

Yes. However, the use of rugs with solid rubber or vinyl backings are not recommended due to possible floor staining. We recommend rugs that are made of a breathable material to prevent moisture entrapment and/or using a breathable rug underlay. Mesh or grid patterns are best.

Odyssey FAQs

Odyssey planks are available with a 2mm thick veneer of European white oak, American hickory, or American maple. All woods are responsibly sourced and selectively harvested according to their specific age, size, and level of maturity. The top hardwood veneer rests over a foundation of layered sustainable wood -- a renewable, plantation-grown timber. Using a fast-growing wood for the core allows planks to be more massive, more dimensionally stable, and get 4x as much flooring from each tree.

Like any natural product, the hardwood used in Odyssey flooring has a good deal of color and grain variation. This variation is what makes each plank so unique and brings an authentic organic beauty to completed installations. Order multiple samples to get an accurate idea of a flooring style’s range, and when installing, mix and match planks from various cartons to get a well-blended look.

Yes. All Cali Hardwood floors are FloorScore Certified and use materials and adhesives that are safe for children, pets, and those with odor sensitivities.

Like all-natural wood products, Odyssey planks will see some faint color change over time. Natural oxidation may make lighter flooring styles appear slightly darker.

The UV oil finish on Odyssey planks showcases the wood’s unique features while delivering a natural matte finish. Planks look their best when maintained a few times a year with an oil refresher solution.

If the scratch is white, the finish has not been compromised and is repairable. Simply spot clean the floor with WOCA Natural Soap Spray, which should eliminate these blemishes or, at the least, make the damage less noticeable. For scratches that cannot get buffed out, use a touch-up marker.

If you have a minor chip or slight damage, this may be minimized using a touch-up marker and/or Fil-Stik. Cali Bamboo Fil-Stiks are wood fill products that work great to reduce the appearance of deeper blemishes. In most cases, more than one shade may be appropriate. If the damage is severe enough, board replacement is typically the best option.

When removing stains from any wood floor, always begin at the outer edge of the stain and work toward the middle.

Significant modifications are not recommended and are never a guaranteed solution; all repairs are unique. Nevertheless, it is possible to refinish or recoat one time. Always seek assistance from an NWFA Certified Installer, and always test on a sample plank before you proceed. Refinished or recoated floors are not covered under the warranty.

Meritage FAQs

Meritage planks are topped with a 4mm thick veneer of European white oak, responsibly sourced from France’s Ardennes Forest. Trees selectively harvested according to their specific age, size, and level of maturity. We use European oak for its beautiful look (long, trailing knots and intricate grains) and extreme density, which allows for longer, wider planks to be cut. The oak veneer rests over a foundation of layered acacia wood -- a renewable, plantation-grown timber. Using a fast-growing wood for the core allows planks to be larger, more dimensionally stable, and get 4x as much flooring from each tree.

Like any natural product, the European oak used in Meritage flooring has a good deal of color and grain variation. These assets are what make each plank a unique and authentic organic beauty to completed installations. Order multiple samples to get an accurate idea of a flooring style’s range, and when installing, mix and match planks from various cartons to get a well-blended look

A 7-coat aluminum oxide finish protects Meritage planks.

If the scratch is white, the finish has not been compromised and is repairable. Merely using a flooring cleaner, like Bona, should eliminate these blemishes. If the scratch is more in-depth, but the raw wood is not exposed, light buffing with a microfiber cloth can shine up the dull area. Often the damage becomes less noticeable. For scratches that cannot be buffed out, use a wood flooring touch-up marker.

Floor noise is normal and will vary from one installation type to the next. Occasional noise is due to structural movement and may relate to sub-floor type, flatness, or deflection. It may also be related to the fasteners, changes in environmental conditions, relative humidity, and the amount of topside pressure applied to the flooring. For these reasons, floor noise is not considered a product or manufacturer defect. Noises typically go away within a few weeks as planks settle.

Bamboo FAQs

Cali bamboo flooring is sourced from Anji County within Zhejiang Province of southeast China. Most of the world’s bamboo is concentrated in this region and is, therefore, the most sustainable place to harvest, process, and manufacture bamboo products. Anhui’s warm, moist climate provides ideal conditions for bamboo to thrive, and we source our bamboo from well-managed plantations.

While bamboo flooring is naturally resistant to water and other liquids, standing liquid that has seeped between the planks can cause damage. Never wet mop your floor and soak up spills as soon as possible using a microfiber towel or dry mop.

Yes. We sell all types of bamboo flooring accessories and stair parts, including bamboo stair treads, bamboo stair risers, bamboo stair nosing, bamboo reducers, bamboo t-molding, bamboo quarter rounds, bamboo thresholds, and bamboo baseboards as well as all the glues and adhesives you will need to complete your project.

Fossilized® flooring will hold up in any climate if it is appropriately acclimated. Because bamboo is a natural product, it will expand as it absorbs humidity. The key to avoiding gaps and distortion, in even the most extreme climates, is to remove the planks from the boxes, sticker-stack them, and allow them to adjust to the environment. The “acclimation” will take at least five days. In regions with high or low levels of moisture, extended acclimation times may be required. Your floor is ready for installation when the moisture content between the floor and the subfloor is within 3%.

Cali Bamboo is designed with a 10-coat scratch-resistant finish that keeps your floors looking fresh for years, even with active furry friends of all sizes. Keep in mind that all hardwood flooring can be pervious to dents and scratches, so keep your pets’ claws trimmed to avoid excess scratching.

Not all bamboo flooring is created equally. Cali bamboo flooring undergoes a proprietary manufacturing process that makes Fossilized® strand twice the density of any other hardwood floor in the world with a score of up to 5000+ on the Janka hardness test.
